Pop-Up Walkie Talkie: Hornets Vs Bees

The Cornish Bank, 34 Church Street, Falmouth TR11 3EF

Join Dr. Thomas O’Shea-Weller, a researcher at Penryn, for a one-hour walk and talk around Falmouth.

His research focuses on the behaviour of social insects, such as our much-beloved pollinators: bees! One of the many things threatening the UK’s bee population is an invasion of hornets that originated from the Asian continent.

He will speak about the efforts to prevent the predator hornets from settling and how the public can help.

This event is part of FUTURES, a FREE festival of discovery for all ages where you can explore the past, create the present and imagine the future. Agile Rabbit is delivering this event on behalf of the University of Exeter, celebrating and highlighting its vibrant, fascinating, and impactful research.

Meet outside the Cornish Bank. This is an approximately 1 h walk – please bring sensible clothing and footwear.
